Het project met de naam <a href=\"https:\/\/blauwepoldertexel.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blauwe Polder 1<\/a> omvat een productielocatie, een test- en opleidingscentrum, bezoekerscentrum en horeca. Op de zeeboerderij worden mariene organismen in zout water voor consumptie opgekweekt, zoals tarbot, kabeljauw, oesters, mosselen, kokkels, krabben en garnalen. Ook wordt er zeekraal en andere zilte groenten op land verbouwd en zeewier geteeld.<\/p>\n<p>Het project is een alternatief voor aquateelten op zee, die negatieve effecten hebben op het ecosysteem van de Waddenzee. De looptijd van het project is twee jaar. Als het slaagt, kunnen dergelijke kweeksystemen (zeeorganismen en planten) ook op andere plekken in het Waddengebied en daarbuiten worden opgezet. De totale investering is \u20ac 1,2 miljoen, het Waddenfonds steunt het project met circa \u20ac 989.000,-.<\/p>\n<p>De stichting Zilte Zones wil op Texel de huidige testlocatie voor kokkelteelt in polder Wassenaar verbeteren en uitbreiden. Behalve met kokkels zullen er ook proeven met het kweken van zeegras, zeewier, pieren en soorten als tapijtschelp, mossel, garnaal en platte oesters plaatsvinden. Tijdens de pilot wordt gekeken of er een succesvol businessmodel ontwikkeld kan worden voor verdere uitrol in de Waddenregio.Beide projecten hebben veel raakvlakken en zullen intensief samenwerken. De zeeboerderij richt zich op de teelt op land (gesloten systeem) terwijl Zilte Zones een kweeksysteem ontwikkelt in een overgangsgebied van land naar zee. Het Waddenfonds draagt aan dit project \u20ac 1 miljoen bij van de \u20ac 1,3 miljoen die nodig is.<\/p>\n<strong>Karakteristieke boerderijen<\/strong><br>\nHet Waddenfonds investeert verder \u20ac 390.000.- in het behoud van karakteristieke boerderijen in het Waddengebied. De boerderijen zijn belangrijke cultuurhistorische en landschappelijke elementen in de streek en worden gezien als iconen van de plattelandscultuur. De Boerderijenstichtingen Noord-Holland, Frysl\u00e2n en Groningen willen minimaal negen en maximaal twaalf markante voorbeeldboerderijen een nieuwe functie geven, zoals bijvoorbeeld een B&amp;B of zorgboerderij. Eigenaren worden door de stichtingen ondersteund bij de functieverandering. Zo worden ze geholpen bij het landschappelijk inpasbaar maken van de veranderingen aan een boerderij, en ook bij terugdringen van het energieverbruik. De ervaringen worden gedeeld in digitale communities voor andere boerderijeigenaren.\n<p>Ook krijgt elke boerderij een ontvangstruimte en digitale middelen om op locatie voorlichting te geven over het project. Voor fietsers en wandelaars komt er een verhaalzuil aan de weg. Ook worden promotiefilmpjes en een reizende expositie gemaakt. De totale kosten van het project zijn \u20ac 747.994,-.<\/p>\n<p>Voor verbreding van de publieke functie van Rijksmonument de Nieuwe Kerk in Den Helder trekt het Waddenfonds \u20ac 197.000,- uit. Onder de slogan De Nieuwe Kerk verbindt! wordt de kerk deels verbouwd en komen er een nieuw mobiel podium en multimediale voorzieningen. De bedoeling is dat de kerk geschikt wordt gemaakt voor allerlei activiteiten zoals concerten, workshops, lezingen, exposities en een programma voor kinderen. Ook komt er een permanente expositie over de historie van het godshuis en haar relatie met het Waddengebied.
