De combinatie van verzilting met veelvuldige periodes van droogte, veroorzaakt door klimaatverandering, heeft voor veel kleine boeren tot toenemende armoede en inkomensverlies geleid. Salt Farm Foundation werkt samen met haar partners al meer dan 12 jaar aan een oplossing in de vorm van zilte landbouw. Veelvuldig onderzoek heeft ertoe geleid dat er verschillende gewas soorten en cultivars zijn ge\u00efdentificeerd die geteeld kunnen worden onder zilte omstandigheden. Door de ontwikkeling van deze gewassen, die goed tegen zout kunnen, worden landbouwgronden die nu onbruikbaar zijn straks weer rendabel.<\/p>\n<p>Marc.Foods werkt samen met Waddenwier aan de ontwikkeling van bijzondere teelten voor de lokale markt. Als onderdeel van het kenniscentrum worden in de maanden juni t\/m september ook educatieve excursies gegeven in de Zilte Smaaktuin. Bezoekers kunnen de zilte kruiden en groeten proeven en meer leren over verzilting en zilte landbouw tijdens een excursie. We vertellen meer over ons projecten zoals EU Interreg North Sea Region Salfar, Port4Innovation en onze ervaring met andere buitenlandse projecten.<\/p>\n<p>In de Zilte Smaaktuin, bij De Boet, Hoornderweg 42, is het ook mogelijk om de producten te kopen; afhankelijk van hun beschikbaarheid op locatie.
